For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | I just blew a headlight in my 56 so figure now's a good time to consider alternatives...
I recall reading posts about halogens and "blue lights" but couldn't find them in the search function. So I need to ask...
Anyone switch to halogens?? Anyone using the new blue lights?? Part numbers anyone?
(I posted this before but I think by putting a truck year in the heading it keeps folks from responding!) | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Try your search in "The Electric Bay". There are several posts about "Halogen" there. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | You're right cletis... when I did my original search I only put in "headlights" and got zero...

They are readily available at any parts store for a very reasonable price. You really should use relays with them. They draw more curent than the old style & the original wires are marginal in size. LMC is pushing some clear & blue lights. The last time I was there the guy said they were selling so fast they could barely keap them in stock. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | Thanks for your help guys! I'm definately going to go with halogens... maybe even the Sylvania Silverstar... I'm pretty confident that my wiring is set as it was totally redone but we'll check.
Thanks... what a great site with a great bunch of folks! | | |
