If so that would explain whay the front mounts are to far in the front. On my 55 2nd series the cross member under the motor has pre drilled holes for the V8 mounts. And the V8 motor mounts are slightly different than the the straight six mounts, am I right guys?
Like I said before I am not sure if this 261 is a V8, but the way it sounds about the original mounts being to far in front, it sounds like it. Another problem you may have is cooling, since the fan on the V8 is back from tha radiator further, may have to get an electric fan, unless you can move the radiator back towards the motor.
Well, I hope were talking about a V8 here, otherwise my post was worthless, hope I helped some.

Sorry about that, it is a straight six. I think the problem is the 235 and 216 bolted to the front crossmember under the timing chain cover. There is a bracket for this option. The 261 bolted to the larger trucks using two motor mounts that are attached to the engine block. I think I can use the 235 mounts for the 261 block, I will need to drill a couple holes in the bracket and it should bolt in. Anybody agree or disagree I could use some input.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | |
