For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | There was a discussion here recently about converting to roller bearings, part numbers and all...
Using numbers found here I had ordered some from my local parts guy for my 56 but they didn't fit. Decided to order them from Chevy Duty (still had a store credit)... put them in last evening and they fit great.
For reference:
Part # off of the bearings themselves so you can try your local supplier: Inner w/race: 909052R Outer w/race: 909001R Mfg is MBS (Japan I believe) | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 275 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 275 | Yup, numbers are close to what was provided in my order from CPP:
Seal: National 6064 Inner: MBS 909052R Outer: MBS 909067R
All fit fine including the seal. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 | Cross references to Timken Seal 6064 Inner B52 Outer B01
I have wondered. Was it really worth the switch? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | Don't know yet train.. but I'd been having some problems with the ball bearings so did the switch on the advice of my mechanic who has never let me down in over 50 years...
Other posts have argued for and against so search could probably bring up that discussion.
Thanks for the cross reference. Good info for the future. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | train, Larry - those are the ball bearings other brands: inner - SKF B52 outer - Chicago Rawhide B67 seal - CR 18772 [NAPA 49412]

Good to have the cross reference Red! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 | OK.
I'll have to recheck my cross-ref abilities. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 275 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 275 | Larry Bear The local bearing company said those were ball bearing numbers when I checked with them. Surprise, surprise--they were wrong! Just like you found out. Guess the cross refs aren't always on the money. | | |
