hey ya'll
I need to find out if I should look into the possibility of this.and find out if the filters are hard to find and maybe some heading in the right direction in case napa or local parts stores may not carry these things. any help would be great

What size/model engine do you have? Is it full-flow or by-pass oil filter? NAPA carries remote mounting kits for spin-on (full flow) type and so does JCW. If it's a 216 or 235 with by-pass filter Jim Carter and other vendors carry them. Or look on eBay. The AC or Fram filter cartridges are still available. Or maybe you would consider the Frantz T.P. by-pass filter.

sorry all I have a 235 and have no oil filter visible that I can see.I have 2 holes on the engine- driver side next to bottom with cap nuts on them.it does look like these 2 holes would attach to maybe in/out kinda thing like u could put a filter of some sort if i knew what I was lookin for then maybe but b-i-l says that it didnt have one to begin with sorta like option or something I'll look at [censored].cat.and see if it shows something there

If you just have the oil filter lines plugged off and the engine has been running without self destucting, you have a by pass filter. You can find a stock canister type filter that bolted to the manifold, or use a remote aftermarket spin on type. The filter is not absolutely necessary, but is very advisable.

You might want to play it safe and answer the key questions posed by Frank50.

"What size/model engine do you have? Is it full-flow or by-pass oil filter? "

Most likely you have an engine that takes a bypass oil filter but it is possible you have a 1958-1962 261 that has a full-flow system. The set-up of the block on a full-flow is different from on the by-pass engines.

Freydaddy, I'll try and attach pictures of my remote oil filter assembly to this post. If I'm not successful, I'll put them in an email to you. If you need better pictures I can take them tonight and send them to you. Replacement hoses and filters are readily available.

I like 235s! Did you see 53moneypit's topic posted today? Oil Filter Look at ad-53-3100's picture. There have been several posts in this forum about oil filters. Do a search. I know I remember some other pictures. Good luck. :p
