Did a search on this and found just a few people who thought the repros were just OK. Now that a little more time's passed, any more opinions on these repros?
I successfully hammered and dollied a passenger fender from the boneyard and it's close to being installed. My driver side fender is just too far gone to repair. I'm sick of looking for one (in my price range).
So who's bought and installed these and where'd you get 'em? Chevy Duty and American Classic are $225 each plus shipping. LMC I think is a bit more. There's a business on ebay right now selling these for $206 total, including shipping. Their name is Pershing Auto Body Parts. I'm guessing all these fenders are made by same manufacturer.

Good question, I am also searching for a front fender for my '66 and have been unsuccesful in finding a good one used. I'm leaning toward the repro. of chevy duty due to their helpful catalog and good feedback.

Have heard from guys who bought the aftermarket fenders that they are OK.But the metal is much thinner than the original fenders.

I haven't had to buy repros yet, but I do have a few other vendors you might try:

American Classic Truck Parts
1960-1966 Catalog
p. 15 each $225.00 (metal)
pair $435.00 (fiberglass)

Truck Shop 1960-1972 Catalog
p. 67 Part No. 60-09209 $210.00 (left)
Part No. 60-09210 $210.00 (right)

Classic Industries Parts and Accessories
T70289 1960-66 RH front fender ............................... 229.95 ea
T70290 1960-66 LH front fender ............................... 229.95 ea

Good luck!

I bought a set from Goodmark. Quality looks pretty good but they're not on the truck yet.Much better than fiberglass. Retail is over $500 a fender here in Canada. I paid just over $300 Canadian each and think I got a pretty good deal.

So Dave64, is that set from Goodmark for the 66 GMC? Would you say the metal gauge is about the same as original?
Anyone else purchased a fender(s) from other than Goodmark? Thinner gauge? Fitment? If they didn't fit all that well, was it just mount holes not lining up?

Yes the fenders are for the 66. Originals were badly rusted but the Goodmark metal guage looks to be pretty reasonable. The new fenders don't seem to line up perfectly with the bolt holes on the inner fenders but the overall shape looks pretty good. The rad support/inner fenders/grille mounting panel have some rust/alignment issues right now so I can't be sure how much of a headache I'll have when I get to the fender stage.I didn't try to bolt them on but just did a quick visual inspection so far.Just finished both doors to epoxy primer and have rockers/cab corners/floor/floor supports next on the list.Once the cab is finished then I'll strip the front end off to repair the inner fenders etc.

Its starting to get cool up here now and I don't have heat in the garage yet so I'll be waiting for spring before much else gets done.

I really hate winter.

Yeah, I hate winter too. It was cloudy and 65 degrees today. Burrr! grin
Thanks for the feedback.

1960gmc, I s'pose for metal out of a boneyard, $75 for a fender only requiring lower, rear patch panel. No front rust.

I've used alot of good mark sheet metal (fenders, hoods, doors, full quarter etc.) they seem to be the best quality I've used so far. The only problem I had so far is on my current 72 chevy p/u, with the doors. The over all quality was good but the welds that attach the window frame to the door body were marginal at best(easy fix with the mig).

So zenish, you used one aftermarket fender along with an original? Did you notice any difference between the two when mounted?
I thought I read an old post when I did a search where someone said that when an aftermarket fender was installed along with an original, there was a slight difference in appearance. Enough so, that they had to buy a matched set of left and right to look normal.

Mugsy, it was me who tried one repro, there was enough diff in the stamping on the front that I didn't like it, but I figgered if you got a pair it would be OK. May have just been the fender I got, also. It was on the front where the front piece is spot welded to the rest of the fender. Other than that, the fit was fine. Brian

OK, thanks Brian. I guess I'll try a drivers side repro and see how it looks with the OG pass. side. If I need to, I can always sell the original passenger side I got from the boneyard to offset cost of purchasing a matching repro.

I bought the fiberglass fender from Chevy Duty. The fit was not good. The "point" of the fender was rounded off and didn't come close to matching the sharper lines of the original metal. Chevy Duty was very understanding and sent me a metal one at no cost. They didn't even want the fiberglass fender back. I guess that the shipping wasn't worth it. The metal fender fit much better than the fiberglass fender but not as good as the original. It's to bad because the fiberglass fender was stronger.

The fiberglass repro was stronger than the metal repro?

Wow.. maybe he'd be better off just fab'ing a new out out of beer cans!

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.
