Thanks to all in the forum who responded to my post a couple of weeks ago and helped me track down the problem on my ’61. I said in my original post that the engine died when it warmed up, but it turns out that one thing really had nothing to do with the other … it just seemed that way at the time. It turned out that the little mesh filter on the sending unit in the gas tank was almost totally clogged (Guess they need changing every 44 years or so). Cleaned the tank, replaced the sending unit and it runs like a top. I will be adding an inline filter, as suggested.

The suggestions by everyone who answered my post helped me eliminate what it wasn’t and narrowed it down to what it was, so thanks again.

My ’61 Apache 10 was posted to the Gallery today if you’d like to see what we were all working on … and please excuse me if I used the word “original” a few too many times in the description.

right on, Phillip! Always a good feeling to get the old beast running like it should, huh?
