Although a long bed could be put on a short bed truck frame (but not easily).(requiring a BIGGER HAMMER)
Actually, there was an article in one of the truck magazines not to long ago on how to do that, but it requires shortening the long bed and lots of fabrication (cutting, welding etc).
You can however, replace a short stepside bed with a short fleetside bed or vice versa. or a long stepside bed with a long fleetside bed or vice versa, by unbolting removing one and placing the other in its place and just rebolting it down. No Bigger hammer required (well maybe)
