The 235 in my truck needs to have the manifold gaskets replaced, and while the carburator works okay it really needs to be rebuilt. On the shelf I have a carborator I rebuilt a couple of years back, except it's from a 216. A while back I tried putting the rebuilt carborator on the 235, except the bolts did not seem to line up. However, I also have the intake manifold from the 216 and it looks like it is the exact same as the 235, except the bolts for the carborator are different. Is this swap possible, or is this just wishful thinking? Also, what will the effect be to put a carborator from a 216 car engine on a 235 truck engine? I'm not sure what model the 235 carb is but it is a carter, and the 216 carb is a carter W-1.

I called Patricks for advice, and they told me to use the 235 intake/exhaust manifold, not the 216. They said the 216 could be used however, the intake to head sleeves for the 216 are smaller diameter than the 235 sleeves, and you would have to leave them out. I used the 235 intake/exhaust mainifold. I too have a new rebuilt Carter W-1 carb sitting on my shelf I can't use. Charles | | |
