Has anyone had any luck shipping a truck from Europe?

One that didn't fit in a container?

No but I would assume it to be much more expensive not fitting in a container. It would need special loading and lashing down etc. And lots of chances of damage. Call the same brokers you would call for a container and they should be able to help.

Nope don't know any Navy guys 'sept the one's that left my knuckles scared

The last time I sent two containers to LB from Europe got well screwed....The agents quoted $3500 ea I ended up doing most of the work and paying nearly $11,000

This is a COE 2.5 ton

I need a Drive on Drive off. No lashing to the deck!!!

There are air cargo deals but this thing is just too big

Would it fit on one of the open frame type of containers (no sides/ top, just corner posts)? What dimension is too big, the height? Width? Can you just remove the cab for shipping?

Please go and check out the Wallenius Wilhelmsen

Thats a start. I know they have a fleet of ships
that come and go from the USA! Such as the Carrier Tagasago only made for Vehicle transport.

Give it ago!

grin grin Now if that aint the easiest way to float
it over! LOL!
Yep! No lashing, No ships to deal with! And No Container to deal with either!

Just take some strong fishing line with you and a lot of hooks! You never know what you,ll catch
before you,ll reach the U.S.A.

grin PS That is the cheapest way to go!

Sad part is, they sent those folks back to Cuba AND the Coast Guard sank the truck in about 400 feet of water! Imagine some diver 500 years from now, finding that truck!

Drive-on/drive-off is definitely cheaper than container shipping!!! Drive-ons are below deck, just like when you see import cars coming off the boat, same same.

In 50 years there won't be much left of that truck. My brother scuba-dived in Truk lagoon (Truk related post grin ) and he said that the trucks that were still in the cargo holds of the ships had no sheet metal left, only frames and engine blocks.

Or did I read something that at deeper depths there is less oxygen in the water, so things tend to get preserved. Somebody wiser fill me in?

There are some wonderful things in Europe
I got in this fight with the folks in LA/LB and haven't been able to find help since.
I should have guessed they were out to make the rent when I got a Door to port quote instead of door to door

I buy a lot of stuff here for my collection. Plus now that we are living here part tim I'd like to send stuff this way also.

I'm looking at a Star...very deco very big! Maybe 6 miles to the gal

I've good Polish trucking conections if your not in a hurry you can get an intra EU rate of US$.35-40 km

Fuel is so expensive here that old non diesel trucks sit and some are very very good!

Yes there are a bunch of guys that restored ex-allied stuff here too. Some really wonderful things. Now that D-day fest is over people seem to be letting go a lot in favor of something the can drive without getting a loan on the farm.
