I am looking for classic car insurance that doesnt mind my truck not being locked in a garage. Hagerty denied me. Anyone out there know of a company that will insure me even though the truck isnt locked up in a garage? Thanks

I've got my Burb insured with State Farm. I'm limited to 200 miles a month and the rest is like any other policy. Best part is the cost, $160.00 a year. Cheap ! I am however, 55 yrs old and a safe driver!

Smittyschevy -- sweet deal, what's the deductible? And liability? Is the Burb stock?

I keep my truck insured just like a regular vehicle. It runs me about $220/ 6 months through USAA. I don't like restrictions on use. Mine's not anywhere near show quality, just old.

might be a good idea to read the policy on the standard ones to make sure they will replace the truck if totaled,,most will not,, classic ins, is based on value of the truck,,or how much you think it is worth ,,,,Fred

State Farm will do a stated amount policy in some states, when I lived in Arizona, Washington State I had daily drivers that I insured that way, however in South Carolina they had restrictions as smittyschevy mentioned, now that I am North Carolina I again have stated amount on my daily driver thru State Farm, check with your local agent and see what they have.

My policy is for a stock vehicle, I can drive it to work, use it for advertising, with no need to keep it in a locked garage. Policy has personal injury protection and 500.00 deductibles comprehensive and collision, emergency road service as well.

4ontheFloor,
do you have replacement as part of your policy? That would be the best of bothe worlds if you have that.

Do clubs get special deals? I mean, say we were all members of the Stovebolt Club of America (yup, SCAM) and we went to an insurance company that already understands old vehicles and does policies with replacement based on agreed value, would we have enough clout to swing some discount deals?

Have my truck insured with a company called AON that my agent hooked me up with. All the coverage I needed and a $20K agreed value. Unlimited mileage, (we drove it to CA last summer) for $143 a YEAR. If you need any further info, email me.

If you insure it as a classic there will probably be somr restrictions.I have 2 trucks insured as classics, thru Grange Ins.of Ohio.I had to have them appraised.Cannot drive for regular use, work, etc. However there is no mileage requirments. You are usually better off insuring thru your regular agent who has your regular vehicles, house etc.

I use state farm but it is only liability. Costs about $55 per year. Only rule is the vehicle has to be more than 25 yrs. old and can't be your primary vehicle. There may be a mileage limit, but can't remember for sure on that.

I just had state farm jack my rate to $800 / yr because my '39 pick up is unrestored. I had 10K replacement value on it. My previous truck was a restored '48 which cost $250/yr. You'd think unrestored would be a lesser risk as it is usually apart. Shopping for different coverage.

I dont know maybe I dont ask the right questions. I spent about 3 hours today trying to find insurance. ALL classic car insurance companies seem to have the garaging rule and it wont fit in my garage. I tried all state and state farm and they wanted to insure it as a regular vehicle im at the end of the rope i dont know what to do. I have a 12,000 truck sitting outside with liability insurance so if someone crashes into it at night and totals it or anything i have to pay to replace it. No way that is cool so i dont know what to do.

Neglected to mention in my previous post that AON does require the vehicle to be secured, meaning a LOCKED garage or other type building. In addition, although they have no mileage limit the classic CANNOT be your "daily driver". I am attempting to gather contact information on the company at this time and will post when I receive it.

To obtain my policy I did not have to have the truck appraised however they requested 3-4 pics of the truck. I sent them a couple of the outside, one of the interior and one of the engine bay.
