also in a 58-59 half ton short bed stepside
were 8 cylinder motors an option? or only the 6 cylinder? once in an ad on line i saw a 58 apache for sale, the picture was very poor so the only thing i know for certain is that it was a 6 lug wheel with an 8 cylinder motor with the cutout for the spare tire on the left side of the bed. could this particular combination have been ordered with the half ton short bed stepside?
thanks | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | all light trucks had 6 bolt wheels, bigger had 8 bolt - 5 bolt is from a car, and the earlier car front hubs will fit the truck spindles, so some folks made that change 'back in the day', along w/ a car rear axle - V8's were an option starting in 55, but most common to find was the standard 6 - the fender mount spare was also a factory option - yes, that 58 could have been original w/ that option set
