Hi Guys and Gals
I just got the latest issue of Custom Classic Trucks and they have a great looking article on the Van Nuys Plant. The pictures are great, but I confess that I have not yet read the article. One picture shows a row of 1948 pickups comming off the assembly line. Cooool. I will try and read tonight and give an update. Best article in that mag in a long time.

It's a sad place now , a mall sort of deal , food places and cheap stores etc.

Thet still have the nice mural outside in the street where the railroad overpass is .

My buddy got a job there in '55 putting left front
fenders on Chebbies , fond memories of auto swaps there in years gone past will never die .

The article stated that the plant closed because of the cost of retrofitting for environmental laws imposed in the State. They did keep the testing ground in use, but the plant closed. There are some great pictures in this story. I like the shot showing the painting booth with a waterfall behind the painters to catch the overspray. I had never heard of that before.
