Heres some 275/60/15's on 15x8 wheels on my 64 if it helps you decide anything...

I'm waiting on new wheels and tires to arrive as we speak. This time I'm going a little thinner in front.

Check out Coker Tires. I have their catalog and they have lots of period correct, as well as custom applications for cars and trucks. Good luck with your project.

If you want a nice tall whitewall tire, an ideal size on a 8" rim is 265/75 x15 which gives a nice sidewall curve but not stretched. Its about 30" tall.

I'm using Dayton's (made by BFG?) in this size
