Another dumb question please - when did the C10 go from hydraulic clutch to cable? My '64 isn't hydraulic so I guess it was a year or two earlier?

Also, my clutch release/thrust bearing is grumbling a little (goes quiet when the pedal is dipped) -in reality am I likely to get thousands more miles or should I be concerned? Can it be changed by dropping the gearbox out from underneath or is it easier to pull the engine?

Many thanks, Limey Simon

Limey.... '62 had a dual clutch/brake cylinder set-up. '63 and on for many years use a lever set-up. No cables on Chevy trucks for clutches for many years that I know of.
Do you have one on your '64?
As for the throw-out bearing... if it's not making too much noise you'll get time out of it.. but probably not thousands of miles. Leave the motor in as mentioned.. the tranny is much lighter and easier to remove and replace. It's always best to replace all clutch parts together, but if everything else is in good shape, if you are on a budget, or you don't mind hauling out the tranny... replace just what's needed for now.

Thanks guys, I'll keep an ear on that release bearing. Box out seems the way to go thanks.
To be honest I'm so new to my truck that I hadn't realised it was levers not cable, but it certainly isn't hydraulic clutch.
