I am restoring a 55 1st series Chevy to original condition. It will be red and will have the original wheels and hubcaps but I do not know if the wheels are supposed to be body color, white, black or what!!! I have seen about every combination but I do not know which is correct. Does anybody know the absolute facts??? Thanks!

According to the book Chevrolet Pickups 1946 to 1972 by John Gunnell,on the regular production models the wheels are black,and on the Deluxe Solid Body Color the wheels are the body color.Hope this helps you. Dale

Those 55' first wheels are I believe different from the previous model years--mine are welded and others i have seen are welded as well-- as opposed to the riveted earlier wheels--allows 11" discs and radial friendly--sans tubes.

If you're camara capable--I would like to see a pic of the
