I think I've decided I want to put in bucket seats. I want a center console smile

But, should I pay a lot for nice looking seats, or
pay a little for ratty ones, then pay some more to re-upholster them?

I'm not sure of the prices on reupholstering and thought some of you might know. Thanks!

Do it yourself! Sewing isn't hard, and can be fun! There should be a tech tip on sewing your own seat covers, and there are several good books on the subject that are more detailed on such things as bucket seat covers.

I dumped my bench seat in favor of a set of "racing" buckets out of a mid eighties dodge daytona. Mounted them to the floor with a couple peices of 1/4 X 3 mild steel to get correct height and placement. They are very comfortable. MUCH nicer than the old busted up bench seat I had. Plus I just noticed that JC Whitney has a console that is an almost perfect fit. Now this is in my 1970 C/10, but my dad once put a set of buckets out of a 1965 Impala in a 52 AD, and that was a sweet fit. The old Impala was so big that the buckets only had a small gap between them. you could ride 3 up front and never notice the gap.

I'm using bucket seats from a Mazda 626....very comfortable. The center console I made. It is 6" wide.

I'm planning on a few trips to the scrap yards ... a new pair of very expensive power seats can be had from a recent wreck for about $100 each!

Horvath sounds right for nice power seats. I got the pair of Daytona seats for $75, but they had one very small tear, and i pulled them myself.

I like the leather seats out of a 2001 up Suburban w/integrated seat belts and the 1996?-present Chrysler Sebring convertible for the same reason. They are also a tad smaller for the AD cab..just my 2 cents grin
