I want a center console But, should I pay a lot for nice looking seats, or pay a little for ratty ones, then pay some more to re-upholster them? I'm not sure of the prices on reupholstering and thought some of you might know. There should be a tech tip on sewing your own seat covers, and there are several good books on the subject that are more detailed on such things as bucket seat covers. | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 96 Member | Member Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 96 | How much Calasis(?) do you have on your hands GMCpanel. I remember the last time i sewed i stuck the needle through my finger, and to answer your question i would get a nice set. it might be cheeper in the long run | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 | I've never had a sewing machine mishap...hand sewing, that's another story... | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 175 Member | Member Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 175 | I dumped my bench seat in favor of a set of "racing" buckets out of a mid eighties dodge daytona. Mounted them to the floor with a couple peices of 1/4 X 3 mild steel to get correct height and placement. They are very comfortable. MUCH nicer than the old busted up bench seat I had. Plus I just noticed that JC Whitney has a console that is an almost perfect fit. Now this is in my 1970 C/10, but my dad once put a set of buckets out of a 1965 Impala in a 52 AD, and that was a sweet fit. The old Impala was so big that the buckets only had a small gap between them. you could ride 3 up front and never notice the gap.

They are also a tad smaller for the AD cab..just my 2 cents | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 | you can see the GMC Van captain's chairs I have in my 59 if you follow the link in my sig.
