I have two titles both have matching vin numbers but one says 59 and the other says 58???? Confused Canadian.

only minor trim differences between 58/59

are the 2 titles for the same truck? if not, why are the unique VIN numbers the same? I had a 57 truck that was ordered towards the end of 57 and it wasn't recieved and registeed til Jan 58 - it said 58 on the title cuz they dated'em the year of first reg

if those titles are for the same truck, maybe one was 'first issue', other was done by what someone called it when they misplaced the first and got a new one? if they're for different trucks, someone misread the #, which will have a year indentifier and end in the actual production run seriel #

Thank you very much,I tried running the vin and all I got was nada maybee because it's canadian??the truck itsellf is original,still has the (glass in-line fuel water sepeperator filter thingyy)nothing has ever been modifiied, just forgotton about for twenty 5 years or so.. no titles here ,,,just the last registration...1982,,sorry about the confusion ..istead of title i should have typed registration you we Canucks do things like that ...eh!!!!

GMC used the code "S" for both years so it's hard to determine what year exactly it came down the assembly line.

In the US the 'S' code was used for both years.

In Canada the VIN's started with the year of the truck.

I do not know of any diffences between 58 and 59's.

Thank-you for the info ,,much appreciated ,,I just picked up the farm truck 2,months ago and been busy building my garage,so, i'll be driving her in soon,7 bones for the old girl.did I pay to much?? It was love at first site.all cab corners rusted doors barely hangen on,and hasent ran since 81.fortyfive minutes had it chugging for life again,cleaned the carb and runs smooth .needs alot of electrical, drivers seat worn down to the springs,glove box full of barbwire nails,no exhaust,and the only guage thatworked was the oil pressure and yes if I remember right 30-40.has the glass filter bowl at the carb ,right now thers a blizzard out side,70 k winds fo over twelve hours! cant get to the truck to get it in!!love the site ..it is inspiring me to do a better job and revive her for all those years of dedicated service to a farmer.

So is the blizzard over yet?

I am curious as to what year your truck is. I have not seen production numbers, but I seem to see 2 59's restored for every 58.

In case you head south across the border for parts Canadian GMC's and US GMC's do have some differences. Basically a Canadian GMC has Chevrolet running gear, where as a US GMC different engines etc. In Canada the six cylinder would be a 235, and the V8 a 283, but in the US the six is a 270 and the V8 is a 336.

Well NorthernGMC ,you sure cleared things up for me, your truck is Identical as mine.yours was in better shape when you started.nice job on yours shur is sweet!! what color was the interior before restoring it.? Mine can be seen at www.webshots.com look for project 58 soon to be changed to project 59, oh well it's still my truck,now i have to figure out if the engine is original...but as usual another blizard blew in and will have to wait.got the shed clean and ready to drag her in,when i parked it 2 weeks ago the lower rad hose cracked when i sqeeze tested it!!

I can't remember exactly what colour is was inside before I started. I'm sure it was original, and I have a parts truck that is the same, do you need to know?
