Well, crap. Lost out on a nice '72 Jimmy 4x4 on the bay yesterday evening. And it was only TWO miles from my house! Test drove it, even! But, I got sniped with 15 seconds left. I was about to raise my bid, when "Sorry, the auction has ended" came up and the other guy nailed it.

same thing happened to me but mine was a 59 caddy. guess you gotta use that proxy bid thing. oh well everything happens for a reason and something better is coming along. better kuck next time

Not me. You don't have to use proxy bidding. Just put in the maximum price that you are willing to pay. Ebay will only use an amount high enough to beat the closest bidder. So, you can put in $500 and win the bid at $175 just because nobody bid higher.
That way, if you get beat, they were willing to pay more than you. It is more satisfying that thinking you should have raised your bid.
