Is anyone out there familiar with the kits offered by Carter, Chevyduty, American Classic to convert AD trucks to power steering?? I'm trying to figure out why these kits will not work on 3/4 ton....... Guy at Chevyduty tells me it won't fit but isn't sure what would need to be changed. I'd really like to figure this out.

There was a magazine article about adapting the poser steering from a 67-72 to the AD truck. I think it was in Classic Trucks, 6-12 months ago. Looked like it would work on the 3/4 ton.

that's what I thought too. Looks like the only potential difference is the bolt spacing on steering arm....... it might be wider on 3/4 ton. Maybe someone out there knows.

Most of the standard suppliers stock parts for the 1/2 Ton and almost ignore the rest. I would guess that he doesn't really know if he doesn't have the details. Most of the conversions that I have read about, for power steering with the straight axle, use a PS steering box from a Toyota truck or something similar. They have to cut the steering shaft, provide a mount,install a bearing in the tube, and install a universal to mate with the box. Also, a new Pitman arm in used too.

I'm fairly certain this is kit will work for the 3/4 ton........ I just need to verify the mounting holes for steering arm (part of kit) are the same on 3/4 as 1/2 ton. I'll let you know what I find
