After the cold dummy light goes off I got a short time of quick acceloration from a dead stop. After that, she takes a little longer to get up to speed. I've been told this will happen if the coil is going bad. :confused: Any ideas?
My truck don't leak oil, it just marks its teritory.

Located next to the hot light, but it was green. Owners manual said that you were to take it easy whenever the cold light was on.

I just make sure the thing will idle properly and stomp and go... I thought it was the 'get going' light!  Kinda like the bottom of the Christmas tree at the strip.

Do you have a V8 or six?
IF V8, do you have an air cleaner with a preheater stove on one of the manifolds? Make sure the diverter valve is opening (it is either thermostatic or vacuum controlled). It sounds like maybe your intake charge gets too hot and you are loosing power because of it, or the choke is not opening all the way. Otherwise check the coil. What carb are you running? If it is a quadrajet there is a lockout to prevent the secondaries from opening unless the choke is open all the way.
If it is a six, make sure the manifold heat diverter valve isn't stuck closed.

My truck is running a 235, and it has a rochester carb. Is the heat diverter valve the heat riser on the exhaust manifold? What should the ohms, or voltage be if the coil is good?
