Just wanted to ask for help. My breathertube is clog an I cant get it off the motor. I was told the best way to clean it out is to fire up the tourch an use the rose bud,an tap with hammer. Is this the right way to clean it?
Also any tips how to change out my windsheild on my 59 chevy.

I tapped my breather tube back and forth with a piece of 2X4 and worked it out. I then washed it out with some diesel fuel and hosed it with water.

The glop in there was a goopy water/oil emulsion. It cleaned up fine.

to add to wallys suggestion, yer torching of the tube while still attached to the motor would not only fire-clean the tube, but most likely the whole motor! eek the tube will come out w/ persuasion to overcome its 47 year habit of holdin on

to change the windshield, the best way is to slice the rubber face off the outside [which should be replaced anyway], push the glass out from inside, then follow the steps in the shop manual to install the new one - it's also possible to push out the old one w/ rubber still attached if rubber's in good shape, but will almost surely break the glass if it's not already - sit on seat, place feet against center of glass - push hard! grin

sounds like you need to make the #1 best investment for these trucks - get a repro shop manual - they've got good pics w/ step by steps of lots of procedures, and we can rarely explain it as well cool

It is best to remember the pan bolt that holds it on too.

Thanks to all for your advive,I sure will not take a tourch to the motor. Thats a no brainer, but then again Im the guy that change his u joints on hill with out the brakes on. The secound I pulled the drive shaft out, the car ran off the ramps on an went down the drive way with me hot footen after it. It went across the street straight for front door of a new house {at the same time Im running next to it an I reach into the window to turn the stearing wheel. An the dam thing was a locking wheel. Well It was enough of a pull on the wheel to miss the house but it clip the down spout off his rain gutter. After that the car went over retaining wall in his driveway an just missed his new car, then it went across the street an hit a tree a head on. Just lucky I wasnt driving the car at the time. Well the first thing I had to do was call the wife an, I told her, her car hit a tree. Damm the first words out of her mouth was No you hit the tree with my car. Well I just told her I was not behinde the wheel at the time it hit the tree. The isurance company ajuster laugh his [censored] off when I told him the story. That was 32 years ago, I hope you all get a good laugh to. eek
