The cab and fneders look like they are salvageable. Don't know about the engine, but there may be some clues about that engine being a lot earlier than you might think. Maybe just the photos, but the push rod cover, mechanical linkage for the starter and such don't look like stuff outta the 40's.
Drivin' down a 2 lane country road in a stovebolt.....cowboy, it don't get no better than this!

My guess is 36 or 37. Do you happen to know the answers? | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 10 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 10 | Jed , I do not know the answers, thats why I am asking here on Stovebolt. There is a chance I could salvage this truck, I'll let you know.

There was a wider gap between 3 and 4 plugs on those motors, also. Would that be correct for 37? | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 117 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 117 | any chance the grill is around there??..Maybe the serial plate is on the cab??? | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 | If it's a 38 the Id tag would be under hood area on pass side the two trim bands, door handle and round dash gauge match with my 38 | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 | Fenders don't match 38 but theres a lot of growth there to contend with so I may not be seeing everything | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 10 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 10 | Thanks for all the guesses! My feeling on this old hulk, fellow Stovebolters, is that I should at least drag it to my place and pick some of the parts off and make them available at a swap meet or on Ebay. Otherwise, it will continue to rot into the ground. My neighbor has been saying he's going to clean the place up, meaning get rid of these old rotting hulks, but clearly thats not happening. If he does get to it, this one will end up in the local scrap yard, and will be melted down in its entirety. I looked at the data plate, it is on the passenger side of the firewall. All I could read was "Chevrolet"', I will take another look.
