I'm looking to find out which vendor sells the best rubber floor mat for my '54. I found some rubber floor mat discussions by searching, but many of them were pretty old, or unrelated. I'd appreciate your input, as I'd like to order one this week. I'd also consider making one if someone can point me to a source for industrial-grade ribbed rubber sheets or whatever. Thanks!

McMaster Carr sells stuff like that by the foot. Cruise through their catalog around page 3400-3410, lots listed there! 1845T42 comes in different thicknesses. Ed

I got mine from Classic American Parts (Old Chevy Duty) fit was good and I have no complaints. I think that the quality of their mats varies with the lots they get in from the mfgrs. Have heard some were dissatisfied with the ribbing. Guess it might be a factor if you were building a show truck.

BTW....that's a nice looking truck you're starting out with. Some guys have all the luck!!!!

Thanks for your comments Dave & Ed regarding the floor mat. I think I may hold off on the mat for awhile, but it was something I wanted to ask about for future reference.

My dad and I are having a lot of fun working on this truck. I have small kids it is hard for me to get away and get out the tools, so I'm glad we paid a bit more to get a truck in relatively good shape. Every time we do anything I get this overpowering urge to just take everything apart and begin the frame-off restoration. That will have to be for another time. Right now, We are all about getting her tuned up to good working condition and just driving it around!!

sory I can't help, but I have something else to add/ask: anyone come across the 1954 BLUE floor mats that came with the DeLuxe models? How about the BLUE windlace, etc? Thanks!

19hydra, regarding the floor mats I purchased the rubber mat for my 37 from American Classic back in 2000 and it still looks great. Its of good quality and has held up great. But as someone said above, quality may change from shipment to shipment and may have changed since I bought mine but if I need more I would consider American Classis since they help to support our site but as alwasy...shop around!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
