What would be the value of a running 1959 261 engine complete from bell housing to fan and air breather to oil pan

$150 is standard core charge for a beat 261 from the wrecking yards around here. I have seen them go as high as $500 for a really good runner. I got a good runner in a C60 dumptruck just for hauling it away - ie free.

That sounds about right. I paid $150 for my '54 261 from a local salvage yard. It was complete and "ran when they parked it", but I chose to have a complete rebuild anyway.

Ultimately, it all comes down to how badly someone wants/needs it.
