I just won a set of correct period chevy belts (the kind with the metal latch buckle that has the round medalion in the center with the chevrolet bowtie on it in blue). The set is complete including the round eyebolts that bolt into the cab. Does anyone have any info on exactly where the stock attackment points would have been. My truck is glade green and the belts are the same color, slightly lighter, and in good to very good condition. they also have the plastic boot that slides over the attachment clip down to the bolt. Thanks for helping out the new kid. Also, the truck is Canadian, was advised by Canadain chevrolet that they only made 4,002 and this is #32 off the line and is 99% factory original in very good shape. WHAT A GREAT TRUCK! Thanks again! | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 | 58trukie, did you ever find out where the belts bolt to the cab? I need to do the same thing on my 57 3100. I see alot on the AD's but not on the task force series. There is some space right in front of the gas tank that looks like it may be about all there is for space. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | wow, guess we all missed this one! hope 58truckie didn't get discouraged at us! Kev - the belts, being afterthoughts, don't have a specific place to attach, pick a spacing that works for you and drill holes in the raised rib just in front of the tank, where the tank straps attach - doubled there and strongest - use large flat washers under the floor or make up some reinforcing plates, bolt'em in and yer done Bill | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 | Thank you red58. Thats where I was guessing the place was but I wanted to be safe and do it right. I am going to install three since my daughters like to ride in "RT" with me. I understand that I should not share mounting holes so I wont do that. If anyone thinks that teenage girls dont like old trucks think again. My two teenagers love that old truck as much as I do. We are planning a 50th party for him this summer! When we ride they do the good buddy wave as good as I do. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | yep! I've got'em in my 58 that way - and I find more teenagers wavin at me on the street nowadays, they know where it's at Bill | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 | I have the seat belts and I want to put in three. If I do the division on this I have about 51" to work with, divide that by three and I get about 16" each. Seems kind of small for each person. Does this seem correct to everyone else? I want to be sure before I drill holes. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 111 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 111 | I was planning on adding belts as well to a 552nd. I belive in Iowa you can have four in the cab on a bench seat I was planning on adding a sholder/lap belt for driver and outside pass and two laps for the inside pass. does anyone know the legalities involved. I do know that in Iowa if the vehicle did not origanly come with belts they are not required.

Putting the seats in my 62 C-30 is no problem (or it wouldn't be if the weather would cooperate) but I am still brainstorming on how to mount the shoulder harnesses in the cab. I am thinking about making a backing plate that conforms to the curve of the sheet metal in the corner post with a nut welded onto it. I can fish up into place behind the sheet metal if I put a second hole in the backing plate and a corresponding hole in the sheet metal. Does anybody have any other ideas? David

Are they bolted in in the same place that you would on a Task Force truck? | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 | Hey 58Truckie, I see that was your first post. Welcome! By the way, we love pics! How about some of that '58? | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 55 | does anyone know where to get seat belt retractors? They were chrome rollers that fit on the belts and rolled them up on the seat.
