I put mine in my glove box. Made a template, fits in the front of the box covered with material that matches the back of my seat. Sits on foam padding so it doesn't get jostled around. Just have to open the door to access.
If I had to do it all over again, however, I'd probably spring for one of those units that you mount anywhere--under the seat, behind the seat, up under the dash, and control entirely with a small remote.
In the enclosed glovebox, listening to CDs, my unit gets mighty hot in the summertime. I even had it overheat once and shut itself off.
