Another question comes to mind: Bear claw (newer type) latches are safer than the original locks and my 51 did not lock from the outside of the drivers door. We're looking for convience here not originality. yes we know it locks from the inside but we want to walk up and open the cab, keep some things safe inside while we're gone away. we have no keys for the other door. Can this change out be done and what type out side handles work? We can find bear claw latches but handles are another question?? Does any one know where to find these items??

You can go to 53,type handles they are push button, and you can have both sides keyed .you will have to also change the door strikers and door latches to 53 /55 style,I looked into doing this on my 51,3100. the truck shop has all the parts needed, and chevy duty also.oldnavy51.........
