Hey gang, I need to remove my bench seat to install seat belts and carpet and I am clueless. Are there any tricks so that I can easily remove the seat and adjusters etc as one assembly? Have there been any good discussion threads on this??

First you remove the seat top and bottom. Then if you want to go further, the seat holder assembly unbolts. You can then unbolt and remove the adjusters but they shouldn't be in your way anyway.

There may be 3 screw that hold the upper part of the top section to the frame. Well at least there were on my 49. But other then that top holds the bottom in. Take the top out and the bottom lifts out from the back side of the seat. You will see.

In my '53, the bottom of the bench just lifts right out and exposes the nuts that I need to see. Takes about 10 minutes to get it out, 15 if you are strong and by yourself. As mentioned b/f you shouldn't need to remove the adjusting portion, shouldn't be in the way. Just leave the top portion of the bench connected to the frame and pull the whole thing out. Be careful when you set it down, b/c the thin railing underneath the bench can easily bend. It also bends back pretty easy so long as you don't crease it. Good luck.

Oh yeah, if it IS configured like mine, lift UP on the seat cushion and pull out and away from the rear towards steering wheel. It might take a little bit to lift it free of the frame but you ought to be able to see a couple of sturdy semi-'J' hooks attached to the cushion that hold it to the frame once it has been lifted.
