The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Interiors Door Panel Water Leaks

I just bought a 72 pick up and while washing it the other day I noticed a lot of water leaking from the door panels on the inside of the door. Is there supposed to be weather stripping on the panels to prevent the leaks?

The panels shouldn't be leaking ... maybe it's your door rubber ... OR you might want to put "shower curtains" behind the panels -- remove the panels; wherever you see an opening in the DOOR, take a piece of plastic (heavy duty garbage bag) cut larger than the hole; tape it above the hole with some duck tape and then tuck the bottom of the plastic IN. That way, water comes down, inside the door, from the window ... hits the plastic, and continues to run down inside the door instead of hitting the back of the panel and running down that.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking along the same lines. The door rubber and window felts are new and in good shape. I guess the water hitting the window is running down inside the door and leaking out into the cab via the door panels. I thought perhaps they make a gasket for the panels to seal them up. I'll try the plastic trick.

Nice deer pics gator. Did you get that buck with a bow or gun? I am gearing up for the opening of Wisconsin's bow season, Sept. 18 and can't wait.

Thanks Chris. I shot that deer during last years muzzloading season. I shot him at about 60 yards out with my CVA Firebolt .50 cal. My son and I didn't get an early deer season draw this year but we did get a draw at a big time wild hog place for muzzleloaders. I can't wait either!! Good luck!!

Gator, you probably want to check the bottoms of your doors to be sure the drains are clear.I would think the water you are seeing would be more likely to drain out them than the door panels.I used a heavy cloth and rubber impregnated material(like a gasket material) for inner door liners.It had the advantage of quitening down the cab noise.
