I need information where I can get the "clips"that go under the trim piece that fits next to the windshield on the inside of the cab. Anyone know where I can purchase or where I might find any used ones?

RHuddle56,

Restoration Specialties is an excellent company. They are quick, helpful, and friendly. If you have an example of a small/odd piece of hardware, send them the part and they will try to match it (and they will return the original part).

I am now putting together a 1954 truck and installed the windshield "trim bar" on Sunday. This is the the "trim bar" that scrwew into the dashboard near the windshield and it directs the "defroster" air towards the windshield. There were no clips - the screws (6) attached directly to holes in the dash.

Maybe I am referring to the wrong part?
Can you post a picture?

The only clip I see is one on each of the two defroster "funnels" (vents/scoops?) that attach from under the dash (each with a screw on one side and a clip on the other side).

All,
I have the same problem on my 55.1. No clips, except a couple of rusty survivors. I think I'll try the sources you metioned. By the way, they are just a bent tempered wire. - Scott

I was given a 54 GMC cab 2 weeks ago and it has the upper dash trim. I will try to get to it and remove the trim to see the conditions of the clips.

RHuddle56, the clips (windshield inside vertical connectors) you want are available from Jim Carter, $5.95 a pair, item # WIC304. www.oldchevtrucks.com

OOPS, these are for 47-53, I see yours is 54.

To All,
That Restoration Specialties rang a bell, and now I remember that I did send my rusty clips to them and they were unable to match it. They sent mine back. So I am still looking. - Scott
