These parts came from the Barry Weeks auction and I am going by what he (?) had labeled them as being from.

One is from a 1940 3/4 ton Panel truck, and the other is from a 1940 3/4 ton pickup.

The other parts...?

Again, I have to put a price on these, and I know that they are difficult to find, so I will ask $400 each for the carriers (But make me an offer we can both live with.) (I thought about saying I would ask $4000 each, but some folks might not get the humor.)

Nick - Not sure what the "black" piece is. I need to do some research on that. The reddish primer piece is the sliding track that gets bolted to the truck bed frame and bed floor IIRC. Other 1940 truck owners will likely chime in to confirm. wink

Do you only have one of those pieces?

Best of luck with your sale! thumbs_up

Dan,
"
I have attached another photo of the black piece to make it easier to identify. (Yes, I only have one of those pieces.) The part was in an auction lot with spare tire carrier parts. I would think it would be a 7.778 "strap", but that is a bit of a guess. It is 22" long overall.

If someone needs other measurements, I could certainly supply them for any of the parts.

I believe the red piece is a "track", probably from group 7.779.

Nick - I did some checking and the earliest original Chevy Master Parts Book I have that shows the parts diagrams for the spare tire carriers is a 1929-42 book. Pics are attached below. Neither show a piece that looks like the "strap" you have here. Doesn't mean it's not a part of one of the carriers, just doesn't match anything I can find. The list info does indicate there are different part numbered "straps" for other models including COE and Panel, Exp. No idea what those look like though.

The red piece is definitely a track, parts group 7.779. The '42 book lists 4 different tracks. The first is a 1/2 ton, which your track pictured seems to matches the diagram below. The other tracks are listed for a 3/4 ton pickup, a 1940 (Panel) and a 1 ton Platform. Those tracks have a different design as shown in the lower right of the below diagram page.

Over the years of researching parts for my trucks, I don’t recall seeing the part pictured. The one end is puzzling. It kind of looks like a spring eye? Could it possibly be a remnant of an aftermarket overload spring assembly?
