I have a 1951 3100 with steel wheels and currently running 235/75R15 black walls. They've always been a little beefy for my taste and I've always wanted wide whites.
Is the Diamond Back Auburn Deluxe 710R15 a good fit to keep the stock look?

First off, Welcome to Stovebolt. wave

Are these the White Wall tires you're considering? The tech details list them as 27.9" tall, which seems to be about 1" shorter than your current "235/75R15" tires, which isn't significant usually. But with our trucks (I have a '51 3100 myself), IMHO taller is better when it comes to speed, mileage and ease of steering. The shorter tire means your engine/drivetrain must work a little harder to get the same speed you've been used to, increasing wear and tear plus reducing gas mileage.

Just me, but if I was going to drop that kind of cash for new tires, I'd go for the 820R15, which is noted to be 29.2" tall (just about .3" taller than your current tire.

Either one sticks with the original style tires, but if your considering more than just looks, I'd go with the taller ones.

Not the same looking truck but it is the tires you're looking at.

Mickey, which tires are on your truck? The 235/75s, the 710x15s, or the 820x15s?

It isn't entirely clear from your post

Sorry I haven't responded until now. I thought I would get an email, letting me know someone responded to my question.

Thanks, Dan for your input. I was wondering about the 820R15 and whether it would be a problem with clearance.

Thanks Mickey for the photo, but I have the same question as Otto (thanks Otto for asking), which tire are you running?

Dan, I just noticed that the Diamond Back Auburn Deluxe 700R15 is 29.4” tall. Is that too tall to clear the fenders etc. on a stock suspension 3100?

If you have stock suspension and unmodified ride height, those tires will fill your wheel wells very nicely and there should be no interference through the entire turning range. My '51 is still sporting some very old bias ply "pie cutter" tires that stand that tall and have never been a problem for clearance.

My mistake they're 6.00R16 Diamond Back Auburn Deluxe on the old style 16" steel wheels. It's my '53 Ford F-100 that has the 235/75R15 tires but they are blackwalls. Sorry.

Either way, OCK, you will love the Diamondbacks. They are the best handling tires I've ever had on my Cadillac. Don't let the non-aggressive tread fool you. They stick to the road and don't have a lot of sidewall roll like the horrible Coker Classics.
