I need a replacement master cylinder for my 4400. It appears the master cylinder is same as the pickups, is this right?

Is there a kit available to switch the 4400 over to a newer master cylinder with booster? I don't do any heavy hauling with this truck.

KingG - The original master cylinder for your '49 4400 was GM# 5454382 - 1-1/4" diameter cylinder bore that fit 1947-51 3/4 ton through 2 ton trucks. 1/2 ton truck master cylinders are not correct for your truck.

You can find the one you need available from several of our regular well known vendors, like The Filling Station FS-241A or from various FLAPS under Dorman# M9220.

Even rockauto.com carries them as Dorman M9220. BTW - rockauto is the best priced unit I found, but doesn't include shipping and tax which will up that cost just a bit.

Hope this helps. wink

KingG - Just a note that since your topic is more aligned with "Big Bolt" trucks, I've moved your post to that forum to get the best on topic responses.

PS - I think Craig "TUTS 59" might chime in here to offer some thoughts on your "new master cylinder with booster" question. wink

Cut and paste this 5% discount code on the RockAuto order site where it says "How Did You Hear About Us?"

I have the original (I believe) master out of my 50 3/4 ton (3600) if that would do you any good. I don't have any knowledge of its performance as it was removed very early in my project.

Would a conversion kit like this work on my 4400? https://www.ebay.com/itm/304720814853#:~:text=a%20bracket%20and%20pedal-,assembly,-designed%20for%20the%2047
