on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2026 Posts: 2 Moderated | | Moderated Joined: Aug 2026 Posts: 2 | I hope this is the right place to post my initial entry on this site. I live in Pensacola, Florida. Bought a 1952 Chevrolet 3600 a few years ago to restore. Looking up parts on the internet, I found the Stove Bolt website. I have read a lot of the threads over the last few years and found them to contain real good info for working on these old trucks. Being very computer challenged, I have stayed away from joining. I have a few pictures on my truck in different stages of disassemble on my I-phone but haven't been able to transfer them to my computer (still working on that).

So glad you finally decided to join us in person. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your '52, as well as conversing with you in the tech forums to help answer your questions on both how-to's and parts as you let us know what those might be. BTW - On pictures taken with an iPhone, you need to check your camera settings and be sure its set for "Most Compatible" as the standard iPhone settings are for HEIC format, which can't be posted using our Attachment Manager feature. If your existing pictures are in HEIC format, emailing them to yourself usually automatically converts them to standard picture formats, which can then be easily posted through the Attachment Manager.

Posting pictures is not really all that hard. Take a few minutes and tell us about your journey. It has no rust throughs and was supposedly running when parked. I bought the truck and transported it home. There was about 10 gallons of rat's nest in it along with a gallon of sand and dust. After I got it somewhat cleaned out, I found a handful of oil change receipts dated in the eighties in Kansas. So I believe it lived most of it's life as a Kansas farm truck. It has the 216 engine, SM420 4 speed, floor shift, haven't checked the rearend. There is no slop in the shifter, very tight and smooth. The engine has no serial number on it, the space is smooth and flat. The boards in the bed was rotting so someone welded a sheet of 10 ga sheet metal to cover the bed floor. I was surprised by the bench seat; it was covered in a canvas type material with nice firm seat from one side to the other. Smooth and straight like new. The body has some dents on the fenders, one side bed panel and on the edge of the running boards. The left side cowl between the door and hood has a gash someone tried to weld up. Great project truck. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,436 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,436 | Welcome to the ‘bolt. Please post some pictures of your project.
I used to email pictures to myself. (Yahoo email), which lets you resize the pictures when you send them. That way, you don’t need to spend time resizing them.
Another quality post. Real Trucks Rattle HELP! The Paranoids are after me!

We would love it, if you could tell us a bit about more about your truck, its history, your goals and what if any, you have already accomplished on restoring your truck. And don’t be afraid of getting those pictures off of you iPhone. Easy peasy. I have one and do it all the time. If you have a problem with the size being too big, just email them to yourself like Rusty Rod said then save it back to your phones photos. Here’s a link to instructions on how to add pictures to a post.Let me also give you a helpful guide on navigating the different forums on Stovebolt. Again, Welcome to the bolt!

In that forum, we can help you figure out what engine you have (the lack of a stamped serial number likely indicates it's a replacement engine), so you're not guessing about what info and parts you may need for tune-ups, repairs, etc. The general location for the engine block casting numbers and date codes are on the passenger side of the engine block, usually just above the oil pan rail area and just above/behind the starter. The casting info on the head can be found on the drivers side center edge, behind the carb/aircleaner location. Looking forward to helping you with your project.

We were stationed in the Pensacola area (Milton FL). That was a nice place.
