Down to the little stuff on my project. Can anyone share any info they have on the rear L/H door upper and lower latch mechanism. I need to repair mine. Parts availability, schematics, anything would be helpful. Truck is a 49 gmc with a 4 cylinder Cummins, tremec 5 speed and ford 9 inch.
Page 1-19 of this 1948-51 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual should be the same info regarding your GMC rear door latch hardware.

You can find more parts information that relates to your topic HERE. Again, it’s a Chevy parts book, but these parts should be identical to the GMC parts.
As for as parts sources, I’m not familiar with any vendors that reproduce those parts. You can search the web for folks offering used parts, or post an ad in our Truck Parts Wanted forum.

Copterdoc - Take a read through this older on-topic thread that will provide lots of good info and pictures to help you out with the left door mechanisms. Look closely at Alvin "Achipmunk" reply. Also take a close look at his 1952 Panel "More Photos" link in his signature line in the post. That has additional photos of his rear door hardware.

Interesting lash up for lifting the body. I'd be sweating bullets waiting for it to flip over. But it looks like you got it set on the frame.

That's a really cool setup, the four popper Cummins looks like it came stock in that engine bay. Great choice! Also noted the 5000RPM tach, which back in the day I tried to find one but they only sold 8000RPM, which is shall we say, wildly optimistic for the big Cadi V8 with stock valvetrain that I've got in my bus.
Wrapped it myself. Stock wheel. Amazon kit. Surprisingly high quality. XXL1 size fits a stock wheel perfectly.
Interesting. The kit says it's for a 15" wheel, and isn't your wheel an 18"? My '53 wheel is 18" and sure would like to add the leather wrap to make it look nicer.
