Thinking there would be a spec for fuel tank gauge resistance somewhere in the electrical diagnosis section-you know, 'connect VOM to sender and ground, sweep arm from top to bottom and observe resistance which should be X to Y... Bwahahahahahaha nope. Diagnosis procedure is 'get a working Chevy gauge from parts stock, connect it to the truck, and see if it makes the gauge move'.. thanks, GM. Then I consulted my 1965 Chevy Truck Shop Manual Supplement. Nope, not there, either.
Then I searched here, and got 400 results, none of which seemed to match. OK, I only read some of them-but none were really close. Which brings me to now..
..the tank gauge should have a certain resistance value when the tank is full (arm up) and when it's empty (arm down) and that allows a guy to find which new type of unit to buy. The specification is literally not in the Chevy truck service manual.. could anyone enlighten me on this, please and thank you?

Good luck!
