Today I was driving down the road and literally heard a roaring noise from under the hood. I pulled over and turned off the truck and discovered that it was the starter and it didn't stop roaring until I disconnected the battery. After I reconnected the battery it wouldn't start or make the noise. What the heck happened?

Take that switch off and see what the contacts look like.
Is the return spring on the stomp linkage in place?

| | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 2,307 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 2,307 | The original 6 volt starter does not need to be converted to 12 volts so not sure what was done as the starter will run off 12 volts fine as long as you don’t over use it on cranking .the 6 volt starter does need to be matched up to the proper flywheel .I would go back to the rebuilder to find out what he did . | | |
