This is the front suspension support (torsion bar) on a 49 suburban. I am pretty sure this will work on 49-53 trucks also. Includes all brackets and bolts.

Edit note - This thread was originally in the Truck Parts For Sale forum but has been edited for content to save the technical knowledge and info for fellow Bolters to see and share as it may apply to their trucks. Many thanks to the participants for sharing this info. thumbs_up

Donald - this style was originally used on 1947-50 Suburbans and Panels, but can also be used on the later 1951-55.1 Series from what I've read on the subject.

Thanks for sharing! thumbs_up

The mounting arrangement for this Chevy sway bar is different than a similar bar for a GMC. The mount points on the Chevy frame are parallel to the ground while the GMC mount points are angled quite a bit. I can take a picture of mine to compare to Donald's picture.

Bill, That would be great. Thank you. I did not know there might be a difference in the mounting points.

Well, for all those that might search for this in the future, Mr. Hanlon is correct. The GMC and Chevy sway bars mount differently, so it won't fit on my truck. I have attached a picture of the GMC mount and you can see they are angled to accommodate the angle of the frame crossmember. We never stop learning do we. Thanks for posting.
