My 3100 is still stock 6 volt system with the after market turn signals switch mounted below steering wheel on steering column. When the lights are on the little red light on the box where the lever is located comes on. But, when you use the lever to signal a right or left turn nothing happens. Same when flasher is activated. I did install a new 6 volt flasher but still not working. Can anyone advise me, please?

First we need to know how many wires go to the switch on the steering column. If possible, knowing what brand the switch is would help also. It seems pretty obvious that the indicator light is wired to the light switch, instead of the P (pilot) terminal of the flasher. You need a 3-terminal flasher that has the P terminal as well as input and output terminals.

The old flasher I replaced and the new flasher have 3 prongs but one of the prongs did not have a wire connected to it on the old or the new flasher. Does that help you any?

Look at the flasher. The terminals should be marked, and if there's nothing on the P terminal the pilot light won't work correctly. Sounds like you had the same problem before you changed out the flasher.
On the picture, X is the power feed, L is to the turn signal switch input, and P is for the pilot light.

You might also check to be sure the switch is grounded, either thru contact with the steering column or with a separate ground wire.

It appears I am missing the power light (P) wire.Do you know where I would find it because I don't see an extra wire. Also could not locate the name brand.

Can you post some pictures of the turn signal unit? Some of the older units have the make/model information on the underside of the turn signal unit housing.

Some aftermarket turn signals have 6 wires (like a Signal Stat 800 series) and no use for the P(ilot) connection on the flasher. Others have 7 wires (like a Signal Stat 900). The 7th wire connects to the P connection and causes a small lamp in the handle of the turn signal mechanism to flash.

Bill, My Signal-Stat 800 had 8 wires. I converted from 6v to 12v and converted my park lights to turn signals, and ended up not using one of wires. I did have the little green pilot light though.

Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong ..................... today.

Here is the wiring for the Signal Stat 900, showing the unmarked P flasher connection going into the SS 900 on a wire that has no color mentioned.

Best I can tell only 6 wires coming out of the unit and I can't locate a name anywhere. Even took the top cover plate off but no name. Wire colors are: black, dark blue, lite blue, purple, red and white.

Please post a picture of the unit. Maybe someone has the same or can identify it.

Make sure your live feature is turned off. The file will be too large and will not be downloaded. If iPhone not sure about androids.

Good point. File size limit is 5 mB. I hate that Live feature and have it turned off permanently.

When I was still at 6 volts, I needed a new flasher. New ones didn't work.

I went to our walkaround junkyard and found one still on an AD. It worked for years until I went to 12 volts.

Ray - If you have an iPhone, you need to change the file type on your camera "format" settings from "High Efficiency" to "Most Compatible". The standard iPhone camera setting saves the pictures in "HEIC" format which is not supported by our attachment manager.

Changing that setting will also reduce the size of the picture files to what will normally readily post, and will save you memory storage space over the other file type. wink

You should be able to change the photo storage file type to .jpg so you can upload them. I'm guessing that the actual upload process will be similar to what I showed in the video.

I have an Android phone.

For posting a picture here, using the phone, I send the photo to my Google Drive. Then from my computer, I download the file from the Google Drive to the desktop so it can be posted here. Yes, that's clumsy! It would probably be better to pair the phone to the computer using Bluetooth and transfer the file directly. Going to try that some day....

Bluetooth file transfer

Another method of transferring photos is to e-mail them to yourself, then open the e-mail on the other device. With most e-mail systems, you can also change the file size along with sending the photos as e-mail attachments.

Probably won't need pictures because yesterday I ordered a new universal 7 wire turn signal/flasher kit from LMC Truck. If the installation directions are in detail I should be able to get it to work. What type wire connectors do you recommend? ray durham
