As others have mentioned many times before, a post ‘54 235 features a lower placed water pump. This was to accommodate lower hood styles of that era. The drawback of installing a shortened water pump or moving the radiator forward is reduced fan cooling that has contributed to overheating in several members trucks.
Member Pre '68 Dave designed and offers a pump relocation kit that will put the water pump in the correct "sweet" spot for getting that engine in your truck and providing the best cooling. I’ve installed one on my ‘52 3100 with a ‘59 235. Check out his website
