Does anybody have any pictures or instructions on how and where to mount power door locks?

My power locks are attached to the ends of my arms...

Ok. Dumb joke reply out of the way, there are some interesting pitfalls with power locks on these old trucks.

To start with, what year are you looking at? Are you aiming to have keyless entry? Or just be able to lock/unlock the opposite door without reaching across?

Example pitfall: On my 58, the lock that you can toggle with the key from the outside is completely divorced from the lock you can toggle with the lever from the inside. You can open it from the inside with the outside lock engaged, but you can't open it from the outside if *either* is engaged.

With a bit more info on your truck/goals, we can give you some better advice.

I have a 49 truck. I just want to lock both doors at the same time from a remote fob. I have no idea where the actuators would go.

David, I am noodling on the same problem except that I have Altman Bearclaw Latches. Thanks for bringing up the subject. I will be watching the thread.

It basically attaches to the control link between handle and the lock on door to pillar. it moves the link as if you were moving the handle.

But as the other posters have said. These stock handles have two locks. one that only locks the button on outside from moving the latch. and the latch itself having a lock position.
This kit would handle the latter.

you could leave the button in the unlocked position on the outside. and lock/unlock the doors with remote.

It sounds like I could drill a hole in the control link and make a mount or weld something to the link. My Corvette was a lot easier to convert. Thanks for the info but if anyone has a picture it would help.
