Help me understand. pleas

How do you search old posts. You know over 10 years old. When I go to advanced search and enter a criteria over 10 years I get this.

"The specified date range is too wide. The maximum date range you can search with is 10 years"

Is it simply that posts ove 10 year do not exist?
Are they Archived?
Are they right there and Im looking in the wrong place?

or am I just searching all wrong.

this place is like the lost dutchman mine, full of treasure, Im just having trouble finding it.

Rock - Are you using this link to begin your Search???

That link does not specify any range of history unless you specify it in the query box. For example, if you want to search for past threads on 261 engines, just type in 261 to start. It will list some ad links and then jump into the most pertinent threads based on the 261 in the titles of the threads. If you want more detail or limits to the search, just add definition to your search terms. IE; 261 in a Task Force truck. You will get slightly different responses depending on what you ask for, so it helps to refine/redefine your queries.

If whats in that first page of links isn't catching what you seek, there is a "More" button at the bottom of the page to continue down the list of the query findings.

Hope this helps. wink

If you are using the "older than" option, make sure you have blanked out the "newer than" boxes.

Thank you.
looks like im over thinking it. I go to the magnifiying glass at the top of the forum, then advanceed forum search. The date range is in the advanced area. I start with a broad search term then refine following the guidelines in the how to sticky on this forum. I gues I should just leave the date range empty.

Thanks fore pointing out the "more" button I did not see it.

That magnifying glass search is different than the actual "Search the Site" link tool. The magnifying glass search I believe has built in UBB limitations that are not found in the "Search the Site" tool.

You can find the link to "Search the Site" in the left margin boxes using most computer and tablet applications, but to see it on a phone, you need to turn your phone sideways to get the whole page to display the left margin things. Otherwise look at the top of each forum page header as there is a "Search" link to tap on to take you to the search feature.
