I just finished the Heater on my '58 Chevy 4400 (Thor). Thought I would share some pictures. I had a local Radiator Shop recore the Heater Core. It is actually a NOS part he had for a '72 C10.

I blasted everything and cleaned up the motor. A fresh coat of Rust-Oleum Hammered Tone paint and it looks good as new.

I had 91° heat coming out of the unit, nice and toasty..😁

I'm close to getting my heater back together. Got a few other pressing items, but have the parts I need.

I really would have used it on the last trip it made. The temp was 37° the morning we left for Columbia SC. and Trucks at the Farm.

Did same to mine and works really well heater cores seem to be obsolete unless you want to pay a lot to have one built. I used one from a 1960 c10 which is really close to original routing and had to add supports off old one where core mounts to housing. Also drive motor was changed using one from 1979 mustang. as all these parts were new and still out there. Very pleased with results.

I rebuilt Ol' Roy's heater a few years ago and it really cranks out the heat. Unfortunately the cab isn't exactly hermetically sealed so cold air comes in around the parking brake, driver vent, loose windows, cowl vent and probably some other places I haven't found. No toasty cab for me!

Thor has plenty of ventilation as well, so far the Heater has been keeping up. It was 28° last Saturday on the way to Home Depot, I wasn't sweating but it wasn’t cold...

"The Cab That Breathes". That's how these trucks were marketed.
Over time, they tend to breathe more than when they were new.
Even so, a decent heater should still melt the shoes off the ole lady, as they say.
A clogged up core or a weak fan motor can prevent adequate heat to come out.

Hahaha! ya, mine blows pretty hot but Sunday it was 13 in the morning and I had as much fresh cold air coming in as the recirculating heater was moving around. I didn't take off my coat or my hat!
