Do 88 to 98 gm 16 inch rims fit our advance design trucks without any issues . 16 by 6.5 6 lug .Have a chance to buy 4 rims to replace the 15 inch ones I have .will 16 inch affect 355 gears or is it better to stay with 15 inch .
Kevinski - I think the offset is going to be way too different to properly fit if your talking about putting them on your '54. That is said without knowing for sure just what wheels you are looking at. Perhaps you can measure your existing rims and compare???

The rims I have on my 54 were from the local flaps (Canadian tire ) way back in about 1989 ,I thought there was some imfo about chev trucks from early eighty’s will fit was wondering if anyone knows what year of trucks will fit the stock 47-54 trucks .Good idea and I will take a look at the rims that I have on there as they are not origional .It seems there should be plenty around and there are a set of older rims from a 4 by 4 but they look to be to wide .My tires are like new but they are probably 15 years old and I might as well take a look at all options of what will fit as everything is quite pricey these days. I have also read that Toyota rims may work but I think the back spacing is wrong but I have a Tacoma and was going to try one to see how it fits .
Just because a rim bolts onto the truck doesn't mean it's appropriate or safe to use..
The backspace may allow the rim and tire to clear the steering and brake components but the offset might be such that damage to the wheel bearings and spindle occurs.
Compare the backspace measurement as well as the offset measurement of your proposed new rim with the original rim and choose one with an offset measurement as close to the original as possible.
Offset is the most important of the two measurements as it determines where the weight of the truck acts on the wheel bearings and spindle. Too far inboard or outboard can result in worn out wheel bearings or broken spindles in some cases.

Agree that’s why I am asking to determine if there are any rims that are compatible to the original truck .My truck origional rims are long gone and don’t think they were all the same anyway.
I'm pretty sure the original wheels had 0" offset with 3" backspace, so that's the starting point.

Any one use blazer ralleye rims from the 70,s to early 80s on there stock truck . The bolt pattern is 6 lug but the width of the 4/4 model are 8 inch wide . Was curious about what the back spacing should be with a wide rim and if the truck will drive correct with the width. Educate me please.
Stock AD wheels had very little to no offset. See the attached snip from the 1951 Truck Vehicle Info Kit.
The 16" wheels were 4.5" wide between the bead seats, so about 5.5" overall width. The offset was 9/16", so the rear of the rim sits about 3.3 inches behind the wheel mounting surface of the hub.
An 8 inch wide wheel will likely stick roughly 4 inches behind the wheel mounting surface, assuming that it has zero offset. I couldn't find similar wheel info for the 70-80 Blazers so don't know the actual offset.

You'll have a seriously hard time steering and controlling your truck with 8" wide rims on it.
The original rims were 16" dia x 4.5" wide . I wouldn't use anything wider than 6" but 5" would be preferable.
Ol' Roy had 15" x8" rims on it when I got it and they sucked! You could hardly steer the thing, even at speed. The ride was jarring and unstable.
16" rims and tall tires made a night and day difference.

I haven’t drove my truck since 2017 but the tires and rims are aftermarket from about 1990 . They look wide I will have to take one off to see but the truck drove and steered nice with the rims that are on there I need a spare tire so I read the rims from the old blazers were compatible .I am going to have to take one off and do some measuring or see if I can find any markings on there ones I have on there now .thx Kevin. Ps I am back in the garage and hopefully this spring this thing gets back on the road
So checking a little more the rim I am looking at has basically a 0 offset so the mounting surface is in the middle of the rim the back space is 4 inches because the rim is wider. The stock truck rim has 0 offset with a 3 inch offset. So they might work .i am going to take one of the rims off my truck to see if I can determine what is on there. Thx Kevin.
I know that a 16" rim with 3.5" backspace will fit without interference.

I think the 4wd Rally Wheels looked okay on my '57. 235/75 x 15 tire rode well, although they were a bit hard to turn left or right at a stop.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
One thing to consider when choosing a wheel is "scuff radius". An imaginary line drawn through the king pin (or top and bottom ball joints) and another through the center of the tire tread should intersect at the road surface. If not, the tire is being dragged in an arc across the road instead of pivoting. The less scuff there is, the easier the steering effort will be. Jerry

Kevinski - If the "blazer ralleye" rims are 15" diameter, you will likely experience interference with your tie rod ends with the extra width of the 8" wide wheel. Either tire or rim will most likely have contact with the tie rod ends without modification or spacing the rims out away from the hub face.
I seem to recall someone went through this and had the interference problem. It's possible the "disc brake" ralleye wheels had more clearance, but I couldn't find the threads that talked about those things.
Maybe someone else knows???
