Been running a couple (HI/LOW) 6 volt clamshell horns for the past 30+ years on my 12 volt system. No El Problems, at all. Then a couple days ago, I suddenly lost the low horn and then a day or two later the HI horn started making crazy zapping sounds each time I hit the button. Time to figure out why. Was very concerned that the horns were dying on me. I noticed the horn relay was very crunchy looking and was wondering if maybe it was not sending a correct signal to the horns. NAPA auto had one in stock for a whopping $20. Dove into swapping the new relay in today and OMG. Both horns are now tooting again. The truck is smiling once again......

Dan,
It is NAPA #HR101SB and yes Bill, VERY loud, but I only quickly tap the button twice. TOOT TOOT. No real long hold downs.

When I went to 12V years ago, I wired my horns in series. Worked great for years except now they don't. I'll have to look at them in the Spring.

Like old time Christmas tree lights, when one quits they all quit.
