For those that attended this years Roundup, you probably know I was going to have a new hip installed TuesdayI with a new titanium R.R. spike installed. At least that is what it feels like today Left the house at 4:30 am, 40 min drive to the surgery center. Thay got me right in and started prepping me. After surgery had to wait for the spinal block to wear off. They walked me down the hall and up/down a few stairs, then told me to go home. Another 40 minute drive and I was sitting in my recliner with a hot red headed wife waiting on me with some more cookies to eat at 12:30 pm.
The surgery went fine and am a very lucky man. For those that may need this done in the future, don’t wait. Ask around for a good surgeon (they will have about a 6 month wait list) and get R done.

Wow surgery assembly line they sure get them done quick .In 2020 I had a knee replacement and was there from 3 pm Friday until noon Saturday and I thought that was quick .I do think that is a good thing that they get you up and moving right away I followed the after care and kept moving and it turned out great .Hope your Hip heals well
Had my left hip replaced last fall and it is doing great. This is my right hip less than a year later. Hope I also will not need the knees done. It is supposed to be a lot harder to heal up from than a hip. I expect to use a walker for the next several days and then slowly switch over to a cane next week as I get more mobile and start cutting back on the high octane pain meds.

Good to hear things went well, Don- - - - -and stay away from any knee work if at all possible! Mary has had her right knee replaced, and "revised" with a thicker shim several years later. Neither one went very well, and she's needed some pretty potent pain meds ever since. Good luck with the recovery! Jerry

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. I’m in the middle of playing nurse made for my wife who had a right knee replacement 7 weeks ago and can attest that it’s a tough recovery. Sounds like your doing good and I wish you have a speedy recovery!

I guess I am lucky with the knee ,I still lace up the skates every week in the winter ,took a while to mend but every one I talked to before stressed to keep it moving and bending so you get as much range of motion as possible .
Wonder if my skates still fit me? Thanks for all the well wishes and yes, I think I got a good medical team. Made it up to the shop today and just sat around for a while. It felt good to get out but my wife didn’t like it.

Remember Don happy wife happy life hope you never need your knees done haven’t heard many good knee stories my father in law said hips were easy knees another ball game
I have heard the same stories Tim, knees are a lot harder to deal with and a longer heal time. Got up to the shop for a little while yesterday but didn’t do anything but hit the shop fridge several times. Hope to do that again today. The 53 is needing some loving!

Bad joke…good luck healing up, Don. I know of several folks who have done very well with this procedure.
Dad has had both knees done (partial) once. One of the two got full replacement this summer. He’s getting around good after being very faithful to his rehab.
Not a bad joke Nathan but a good question. I believe the bearing surface is a high-quality Teflon. I asked about zerk fittings and he said the teflon does not need Alvania EP-2. Wish I could of made Indianna this weekend.
