This truck has been mounted on a '78 Suburban 3/4 ton frame. 454, 400 turbo, power steering and brake. I'm having trouble finding the intake to water pump by-pass hose. Any ideas where one would be hiding?

Just buy a hose of the right diameter and make one. Use brass plumbing fittings if necessary or put a spring in it if the bend is too tight.

What is the intake to water pump bypass? Is that a replacement for a heater core?

I can't picture anything on a 454 that I have seen that would match that description.

Got a picture of where it connects?

Yep! I had just bought that very item a few minutes ago. I made the post while I was waiting for a reply from the seller. The p.o. has a piece of what I think is heater hose instead of a formed hose. Makes it kink at least 50% on the bottom at the bend. Trying to get this thing to run a little cooler. Thanks for the reply!

That what it has now. I want the correct part as it does have a serious kink in it. Found one on e-bay, made the post before I found it. Thanks.

Glad you found it and got one on the way. Your two earlier replies didn't show right away since they were still while you were in "Moderated" status and had to get approved. But now that your past moderation, your posts will automatically display as soon as posted. grin

BTW - IIRC, I think we meet at last months Genuine Chevy/GMC Truck Club meeting at the BBQ place adjacent to the Indpendence, MO Antique shop. Very glad to see you've joined us in Stovebolt too! thumbs_up

Not sure if I can make a pic happen. '53 3600, '78 Suburban 3/4 ton frame and running gear. 454, 400 turbo, power steering, p. brakes (disc front). My daily driver since purchase in March of this year. Kinda fun!

Your truck looks great from the picture. Glad to hear that you are using it as a daily driver. I am anticipating using mine that way as well (also 3600) although mine is on the original frame, just not the original drivetrain (383 SBC, NV3500 5 speed, and 14-bolt rear axle).

Thanks, I sold a 2017 Silverado that I bought new. Decided to go retro and get something that wouldn't involve going to a dealership on a reoccurring basis.

Nope, two wheel. Looks like four wheel. Enough clearance it might become four wheel drive later. Should be an easy conversion.

How is the turning radius on this truck now. The original trucks turned a real tight radius. Just curious. What would you trade for your truck? I don't have any money, but I do have an extra son who will work hard if you yell at him.

Thanks! I didn't think anyone was eyeball'in. Had a good time, wish to have stayed longer. Thought about coming back by later as I'm only about five minutes from there. New puppy at home that was inside because of the heat, needed to see what she had destroyed!
