I have Stellas A pillar tacked and clamped in place. Cant seem to find any good visuals on how the bottom fender support bracket sits in place. Does anyone have any good images from below. 55-59 should be pretty similar. Thank you for reading this.

I removed one of my tack welds and managed to fit the bracket between the hinge cover pocket and the bottom plenum cover. Not a perfect fit as it appears to attach to the bottom of the step flange. It would take major surgery to raise the step flange side as the top of the support bracket is touching the inside of the hinge pocket. I bet im not making any sense.

I guess it might not matter as the fender mount hole is huge. Tolerances appear generous. The top of the hole is within 1/16” of the original vertically.

I`d hold off welding that in place right now. Hopefully you can mock fit the fenders and that placement will make more sense.

Kevin - Here's a link to a 1955-59 Chevy Truck Factory Assembly Manual. It may take a bit of searching, but look through Section 1 (Cab Assembly), Sheet 11.0 and 12.0 for details on your bottom fender support bracket attachment points. There are also details on cab measurement specifications in Section 1, Sheets 40.01 - 40.03.

Thanks gents. I went back and looked at sheet 12, section 1 again. There is a small flange on the fender mount bracket that is supposed to have two spot welds direct to the pillar. Right now the hinge pocket is in the way. I found a youtube where the dude cut a slot in the hinge pocket so the small flange can contact the pillar, and i did not put it all togather until now. Lightbulb moment. I bet this will releive some of the binding i am experiencing. Will check it all tomorrow.
