Morning all,

I'm reaching out for some assistance in double checking a part number that I've found for the rear wheel cylinders for my 51' GMC 451. The only aftermarket manufacture that lists anything is Raybestos. It list WC15315 as being an 1.5" bore and it does cross reference to the OE# of 2291545. Both Wagner and Bendix were a bust. Are there any other manufactures that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance

Phil

Phil - Here's a web ad I came across that lists the WC15315 as available in limited quantities:

Raybestos WC15315

If you scroll down the page you can see a cross reference list for other manufacturers and their part numbers which you should be able to use to search for more if this source doesn't have enough for your needs.

There's also an NOS one on evilbay too.

Best of luck with your parts hunt. thumbs_up

Don't trash the old cylinders- - - -it's a fairly simple job to reline them with stainless steel sleeves that will be better than new.

You could also send your originals to Whitepost Restorations in Virginia and have them completely rebuilt to like new. They just did the rears for my ‘46 2 ton

How much does the re-sleeve cost versus new ones? I assume they use stainless steel so it won't decay as quickly.

I quick web peek indicates most wheel cylinders are going to run around $85 and up for resleeving from the few companies still offering the service. Another check of sources shows Rock Auto is currently offering Raybestos WC15315 Wheel Cylinders at $47.79 each + shipping.

Phil - With this availability, I think you don't need to try and find another manufacturer unless you know of some issue the Raybestos parts???

I also agree with Jerry (HRL) about saving the old ones. You never know when you may want to see about restoring original pieces or offering them to another Bolter looking for original equipment parts. smile

I have also honed brake cylinders several thousandths oversize and machined new, close-fitting pistons to fit the slightly larger bores. The rubber cups can expand to fit a considerably larger bore without leaking.
