OK, stop groaning. I have an ulterior motive. I was told I can post this here. I can't do the Swap Meet since it's not a truck. At my advanced age (only partially joking :D) it's become very difficult to operate the clutch on my 38 and my son has little interest in the car so it's time for it to find a home where it'll be driven. I'm hoping to get it up on Hemmings Auctions soon but I'm pursuing other options too (like here). There's a short, and only partly incorrect story of the car <HERE>. If you're looking for a very nice, high quality, stock 38 Chevy hit me up for pictures and to talk turkey.

Tiny - That article is a great lead in for offering the car. Sad to hear your having to let it go, and really hope someone will provide it a new proper home.

The Genuine Chevy/GMC Truck Club in KC is having our monthly meeting a week from this Sunday. Okay if I let folks there know about the cars availability??? A lot of those folks are into older cars just as much as our trucks, so it could drum up an interested party or two.

Let me know and I'll be glad to spread the news. grin

Well that was odd. I clicked Post Reply on the post above and got a "failed" page. I hit the back button and clicked the post button again and got the it's already posted message. I refreshed the page and it was indeed posted BUT the text was still in the text box waiting to post. Computers hate me.

Tiny - It has nothing to do with you or any other Bolters. It's primarily a problem with the UBB software update that we had to do several months ago. That and our site getting pummeled with Bot guests that sometimes overwhelm things.

Sorry for the grief dealing with the software issues. Sounds good on your reply above. I'll work on getting the word out.

I understand. UBB is not supported any longer. We (VCCA) used it as well. After helping us fix many UBB break downs, one of the original writers of the UBB software advised the club to ditch it because it will eventually break and not be fixable, which we did. Whether our BOD chose the best software to replace it is up for debate. At the time, no current forum software would support anything from UBB so we couldn't transfer the old forum data (posts, pictures, etc.) from UBB to our current, or any other, software. We archived the old forum in a read only format so the data there is still available and searchable but posting there isn't possible. The BOD was advised, at the last meeting, that software is now available that allows transfer from UBB so we're starting that process. It's a long process, depending on volunteers so it won't happen overnight. I'd heard that a UBB "patch" was in the works. It seems to have been less than hoped for I see. I suspect there will be more of that in the future as UBB continues to decay. At least now there's hope for preserving what currently exists when that happens.

Lovely car , great story.
I know what it’s like to part with something you’ve “saved” , something you’ve poured your heart and soul into.
Best of luck to you.

Pending receipt of funds, the car is sold. I'm happy it's going to a good home where it'll live on being driven and enjoyed in stock form. I'm sad it won't be me driving and enjoying it. It's heading to New Jersey.
